Design with a Passport: How Travel Shapes My Work

Laetitia Parisian Market

The first day of summer just passed, and with it comes the season of movement – of travel, of inspiration, of taking in the world a little more slowly and with fresh eyes. For me, this time of year always sparks reflection. It’s when I feel most open to discovery, most connected to the beauty of wandering.

Travel has always been a vital part of my design process. Every journey offers something unexpected: a new perspective, a different rhythm, or a piece that speaks to me in a way I can’t quite explain.

Sometimes I travel with a clear purpose – sourcing a specific piece for a client, meeting with artisans, or hunting for something rare that I know will bring a space to life. Other times, I’m traveling for leisure, with no sourcing agenda at all. And in those moments, it becomes more intuitive. I’m simply observing, absorbing, taking in the textures, colors, and energy of a place. It might be the shape of an old window, the way the light hits a stone wall, or a small object I stumble upon that sparks an idea.

Whether I’m on a mission or just letting the experience unfold, I always return with something – an object, a memory, or a shift in perspective – that finds its way into my work.

These are the kinds of pieces I love bringing into interiors. When layered into a space, they don’t just look beautiful – they add depth, memory, and authenticity. They help create the kind of collected, well-traveled interiors that feel meaningful and lived in.

At Laure Nell Interiors, we believe a home should reflect the journey of the people who live in it. That’s why we incorporate thoughtfully sourced décor, artisan craftsmanship, and vintage finds with soul. These elements add a richness you simply can’t replicate with mass-produced furnishings.

To us, it’s never about filling a space – it’s about curating a narrative. One that reflects your experiences, your aspirations, and the story you want your home to tell. That’s what makes a space feel personal, timeless, and uniquely yours.

Here’s to Your Own Summer Story

Summer is travel season – and I hope your own adventures bring you beauty, inspiration, and maybe even something special to bring home. Whether it’s a memory, a piece, or a feeling… let it shape the way you live.

And when you’re ready to bring that story into your home – we’d love to help.
