Designed for a couple relocating to Florida, this residence started with the art. The clients arrived with an established collection that had never had a permanent home, so the placement of each piece was considered early in the design process. One nine-foot canvas had to fit the elevator before it could fit the room. That kind of practicality shaped the process from the beginning. We set out to find the right place for what mattered to them, then designed the home around the way they wanted to live.
The spacious condo’s interiors were conceived from the start as a serene and sophisticated retreat. The goal? To capture the ease of Florida living coupled with the refinement of a five-star hotel suite. We chose a calming, warm and neutral palette as the foundation and layered it with natural textures. Woven in are quiet notes of blue and green, subtly mirroring the natural palette of the Florida coastline. The overall design was carefully created to balance the visual aesthetic we envisioned with livability. Careful attention was paid to how the homeowners live, and how they will use the home every day.
The layout of the living room was reimagined fully as a generous entertaining space that opens into the dining area. We sourced sculptural furnishings that bring both form and character without sacrificing comfort. The statement lighting is treated almost as jewelry. It adds a dimension that brings another layer of artistry to the home.
In the primary suite, we approached the design as a fully integrated retreat. Every element was selected to contribute to a true sense of quiet and stillness. Discreet desk areas throughout the residence allow the homeowners to open a laptop when needed without ever disrupting the serenity of the surrounding rooms.
The main office takes on a moodier, more masculine character, an intentional counterpoint to the lighter palette throughout the rest of the home. Designed with flexibility in mind, this space also converts into a guest suite, ready for season to welcome the steady stream of cherished family and friends.
