And just like that, spring is upon us. As we step into the second quarter of the year, we’re reflecting on an exciting and momentous start to 2025 for our firm. From prestigious industry recognition to high-profile design showcases, the past few months have been filled with incredible opportunities that celebrate our commitment to timeless, curated design. None of it would have been possible without our talented team, whose creativity and dedication continue to bring our vision to life.

Kips Bay Decorator Show House Debut

This year, Laure Nell Interiors was honored to participate for the first time in the Kips Bay Decorator Show House—one of the most acclaimed events in the world of interior design. Our space, Les Coulisses (French for “Backstage”), was designed as a place of transformation—where daily rituals become moments of self-expression. Inspired by Parisian elegance and the romance of travel, the bathroom blended French heritage and modernity where thoughtful architectural transformations, layered textures, and a rich interplay of materials brought the space to life, resulting in a retreat that felt both deeply personal and transportive. Read more details about our Kips Bay primary bath here.

As designers, we believe that spaces should do more than just look beautiful—they should evoke emotion, tell a story, and create an experience that lingers long after you leave the room. This project allowed us to push that philosophy to its fullest expression, embracing our signature use of the dichotomy between old and new, the tension between luxe and organic elements, and our deep-rooted love of French design. Kips Bay gave us the freedom to dream big, to craft a space that was both extravagant and intimate, and to celebrate the transformative power of design.

Beyond being a showcase of design excellence, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House is a powerful force for good with incredible philanthropic impact, raising crucial funds for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. They provide educational and enrichment programs for thousands of children in underserved communities. Having the opportunity to contribute to this mission through our work made the experience even more meaningful.

Luxe Gold List 2025 Recognition

The year also kicked off with the incredible honor of being named to the Luxe Gold List 2025, a distinction that celebrates the industry’s most influential and visionary designers. To be included among such an inspiring group of creatives—whose work continually pushes the boundaries of luxury and innovation—is an achievement we deeply appreciate. Luxe’s recognition is especially meaningful because it highlights the artistry, dedication, and passion that go into every project we take on. It’s a moment of reflection and gratitude for the incredible collaborations, clients, and team that make our work possible.

A Tabletop Design at the Veranda Orchid Dinner

Rounding out this incredible quarter, we were invited to design a tabletop for the New York Botanical Garden’s Veranda Orchid Dinner, an annual event that merges the worlds of design and horticulture in the most exquisite way. This year’s theme was Mexican Modernism, and we were inspired by the visionary work of Luis Barragán. Focusing on the bold geometry of the genre, our table was a study in color, form, and light.

Collaborating with the incredibly talented floral designer, Christopher White, we built a foundation that reflected Barragán’s signature aesthetic—Lucite elements to play with light, cubist forms for architectural presence, and a palette that celebrated the vibrancy of Mexico. The floral selections were just as intentional, featuring Cattleyas and Vandas—orchids indigenous to Mexico—chosen for their striking hues and sculptural beauty. The result was a tablescape that felt both structured and fluid, contemporary yet deeply rooted in tradition.

Designing for the Orchid Dinner was a true honor—not only was it an opportunity to interpret nature through a design lens, but it also supported the New York Botanical Garden’s important conservation and research efforts. Seeing the ballroom at The Plaza come to life with such an array of creative visions was an unforgettable experience, and we were thrilled to be part of this extraordinary evening.

With such a strong start to the year, we’re looking forward to what’s ahead in 2025. As always, our gratitude goes to our clients, collaborators, and the design community for their continued support and shared passion for beautiful, meaningful spaces.
