natural instincts

Our discerning homeowners in Delray Beach wanted a comfortable family room and loggia where they could enjoy retirement while entertaining their large family and watching the boats pass by, as the house sits on a sunny corner of the Intracoastal. We modernized and furnished their family room, breakfast room and exterior terrace using performance fabrics and teak furniture outside so the furnishings could withstand the elements. A palette of soothing natural tones washes over these spaces to create a feeling of serenity and allow the water views to shine. The result is an elegant coastal aesthetic that offers comfort at every turn: we custom designed the coffee table in the family room to also serve as an ottoman so the owners could put their feet up and relax, and we had the sofa custom made with different levels of firmness depending on where either of them chooses to sit. The family room is drenched in natural light, so we worked with Hartmann & Forbes to create handcrafted dual shades that filter in varying degrees of light throughout the day. And we brought the outside in by integrating materials that speak to nature, including a floor lamp from Michael Dawkins Home that is reminiscent of a raw tree branch. Photography by Jack Cook
